On March 22, 1961, at about six-thirty in the evening, Patrolman Coote, assigned to the Sixth Precinct was shot and killed while affecting the arrest of three perpetrators of an armed robbery. The subjects fled the scene and were later apprehended tried and convicted. The scene of the shooting was at Beinkerhoff Lane & Third Street, Manhasset.
