Arson/Bomb Squad investigates fires of incendiary, suspicious and undetermined cause and origin in conjunction with the Nassau County Fire Marshall's Office. The squad is also responsible for investigating all fire-related serious injuries and deaths, regardless of the cause of the fire. The squad conducts inspections and investigations relating to explosives, dangerous devices, unknown substances/chemicals and pyrotechnics. In addition, Arson/Bomb Squad is responsible for the disarming (rendering safe) of suspected bombs and improvised explosive devices as well as dangerous substances, gases and military ordnance. The Squad’s responsibilities also include the disposition of and/or destruction of fireworks seized within the County of Nassau.
